We have just moved to Clear Water Bay and we like the area. We discovered there are also a large number of dogs in our neighbourhood. Most of them are fine, however there are a number of dogowners who allow their (guard) dogs to bark and yap loudly and continuously at any time of the day or night. At times (especially evening & night) this is extremely annoying.
Does anyone have any experience in resolving this kind of problem?

People who have dogs that incessantly bark are not good dog owners. It's a pretty basic dog "skill" to learn to be silent.
We are currently training our puppy not to bark inappropriately. Not that he's a big barker right now but I want it to be really under control. It isn't rocket science. Only requires a little insight and lot of patience.
Having said all that, I don't know what you can really do about it.
