keeping my boss honest

i was hired by a school to be an english teacher but they never seem to hold up their end of the deal. of course a contract was drawn up & signed but they never got me a work permit. it is time for them to honor their agreement as for the bonuses they are supposed to pay me at this point in time but they refuse to. i know without a work permit they did not register me as an employee & i have been working for them illegally so if i go to the authorities i will be subject to penalties/fines.

if i do go to the authorities what can i expect to happen to me? is their a way for me to get a sympathetic ear?

You will be asked to leave HK for breach of your conditions of stay....working without a work permit you are part of the crime....

No it does not in China, dependants don't have an automatic right to work. Put it down to experience, there is nothing you can do. Walk away now and look for something else. Do not even consider the authorities - you will be the one who gets into trouble
