We are going to move in a house and I would like to get a wi-fi internet in the whole house + garden. I already have a router but woul like to know where is the best place in the house (3 floors) to put in. I am afraid of the walls and the distance (stil small) not to be able to catch the signal while in the garden and the router being on the first floor. Anyone got the experience. (we are in Sai Kung).

Thanks

If you have three stories the best place to put the router is on the middle floor, dont worry about walls.

The signal should extend about 50 Meters. I live in a three story house in Repulse Bay. I actually have set up my study in the basement where my router resides. If you are using lap top accessing no problem in accessing from anywhere in the house. If you are using a PC then for some reason wireless network cards seem less sensitive to the device in laptops. Still I bought a new one and have a PC in my bedroom which is on the third floor and picks up the signal fine from two floors below.

Depends on your router model; some work better than others. If your signal is weak then simply buy a signal booster from any computer centre.

Thanks. I use a laptop and my router is a Lynksis WRT54G. I will do this in the middle and see what is going on. Otherwise, looks like we can set up some kind of relay within the house. I will also study this option.
