Does anyone know of a place or a person who can pickup a sofa and help to dispose of it? It's a 3- seater. I called a man with a van and he said it will cost $600. I wonder if there is anything less costly.

The last time I had a sofa to dispose of, I found the lady in our building that clears the garbage on each floor. She should be found at dinner time on the ground floor garbage room.
Normally, she will find a friend to help move the sofa out of your apartment for about Hkd 200, and who knows where it ends up. (Maybe the garbage truck?)

Before I knew about the classified ad here, I had to pay $300 to dispose of my bed to the guys that delivered my new bed. They must have earned an extra $$ by selling it again as it's still in good condition. So do post it under 'free stuff' on the classified - at least you get a 'thank you' for it.
BTW, I've just given away 70plus used VHS tapes to a lady tonight and she was so happy and so was I....introduced of course through the classified free post here.
Actually, you can also sell your stuff through the different classified pages.

If you use Crossroads (a charity) they will pick it up for free, but you have to wait 6-8 weeks. I've used them a couple of times and was very satisfied - all the stuff goes to people in need.
