My fridge is dying and I will need a new one soon.
I am not sure how to get rid of the old one in the most cost effective/easiest way.
Any suggestions?

In other countries (where I have bought appliances), the company selling you the new one is happy to take the old one away for a nominal fee. So I would definitely ask the vendor first.

Would Fortress or Broadway do that? That thought did cross my mind, but I was not sure.

Fortress will if you're buying the new one from them, in fact almost all of the shops will. Otherwise, there are these old men who sit out on the streets and buy people's old TVs, DVD players and other electrical items (I think they take them to bits and sell the parts) - you can ask one of them if they want to take away your fridge. They don't pay much for the items but at least they take it away for free and within a couple of hours.
