I've encountered incompetant and negligent solicitors here, and as a result of their sloppy legal work, have lost two actions and have had to actually pay for his bad work (plus oppsing counsel). The ONLY way to have him disgorge those fees for negligenct work is to go to court AGAIN to prove so - and the legal professiona here will always stand behind its own. Plus, the Law Society is a useless group - just note: they have a bar (ie for imbibing not for legal work) on their premises! Is there any GOOD solicitor out there who WORKS for the client wholeheartedly?

There are a lot of good solicitors in HKG who work wholeheartedly for their clients. It appears that you have been unfortunate to have gotten involved with some whom you perceive to be incompetent. BUt is the reason you lost your case really because of your solicitor? I'm not saying that you are not right, but you have to be objective here.

If you genuinely have a claim against your solicitor for neglience, you should write in a complaint to the Law Society, who oversee all solicitors in HKG and are responsible for issuing and suspending practising certificates.

Saying they're a useless group is not a good start.

Litigation is very expensive and often you end up with a costs order made against you if you lose your case. People should be aware of this at the outset.
