I fancy somewhere different. Has anyone been and if so, what did you do and would you recommend it? Are there any agents who arrange trip from HK?

I was planning a trip a couple of years ago but never went (because no Molson there). These guys seem to be the best agency to deal with - they were very helpful in planning itineraries http://www.koryogroup.com/

I found the agencies based in Dandong called Explore North Korea Tour Group they offer tour to North Korea for western tourists and the price is very reasonalbe as well. They based in Dandong where is just next to North Korea is really worth for traveling as well.

I went in with Koryo group a couple of years back. Would highly recommend the trip for something a bit different, probably the most interesting place I have ever been. They arrange everything from Beijing so just need to get yourself there.

north korea is definitely an interesting place. heard that the trip will be a propaganda trip whereby they have strict guided tours to places where they want you to visit which portrays north korea as a fantastic place to be. living in. be careful though

It doesn't matter where you are, you can apply the trip to North Korea. Just send the scan of the passport and fill in the application form on the website:http://www.explorenorthkorea.com/travel-application.html
Then other things leave to the agency. The agency will apply the traveling visa for you. You only come to Dandong one day earlier than the tour date to hand in your passport and photos then the next day you can start your tour to North Korea through Dandong of China just next to North Korea.
So it doesn't matter where you are ,both can apply the trip to North Korea.
