Left HK, but want to claim Mpf back

I want to withdraw my mpf contributions as I have already left HK, I understand that its possible only once but have emailed mpf several times about the procedure, however no reply from them yet.

As I will be coming to HK in about 1 week I want to apply to get my mpf back, I have the documents from mpf website and have emailed all the documents I thought they might need, but since no reply im really not sure the procedure.

Can I go to mpf office and sign the document in person, will that work ?

What else is needed? I sent copy of my non permanent HK id card, my passport as well as a copy of my one way ticket for leaving HK.

Can I get a check from mpf ? as I will only be in HK for a week it’s urgent to know if I can take a check and cash it before I leave for good.

How long does it normally take to claim back ones mpf ?

I had two different friends call for me in HK and one got replied a few days and one got replied about 1 month. (How typical for HK to get two very different answers)

Since I no longer live in HK and don’t keep any address or bank account there I really prefer a check. Or if possible I can authorize the money transferred to a friends bank account so my friend can western union the money to me.

Im my new country of residency I also don’t have a fixed address so if it takes a month I would need for them to send it to a friends address here, would that be possible ?

I hope someone can give a good clear answer to this..

Thanks

If you leave HK for good and cancel your acct, the SAR govt rationale is you will return your hometown or move to a place to start a new and happy life where you will stay for a while.

Call the bank where your account is and tell them about your departure of HK. You will have to fill in a form or your forwarding address and reason for closing up the account. If your application goes through, they will send a check to your reported address later. Your best bet may be your hometown address or your parents address, someone you can trust.
