Need some 'legal' advice here.. I started my lease on 1 March, but didn't actually move in till 2nd week. First I noticed a leak from under the kitchen cabinets, but couldn't really pin-point where the puddle of water came from (it's not immediate). So I told my agent about it, he checked the sink and couldn't find the source too. The same thing happened again the next 2 days, so the agent informed the landlord who said he will send his contractor over. As I could only be home on Sat, I arranged it to be on Sat (it's mid-week). And during these few days, I noticed the water coming out of my shower and taps to be yellowish in colour. So I informed the agent again, who told me to let the contractor know when he's here on Sat. The contractor came, fixed the leak, but said he has to seek his boss' approval to get the yellowish water problem fixed. This took another week to fix (see below). Because of the leaking and dirty water issues, I could not live in the place until last week, which basically means I have wasted about half of my month's lease for nothing. I tried seeking compensation from the landlord, but this is their reply (it's through a management company):
"everything has been solved in reasonable time. The main point was we didn't ignore your request and try to solve it step by step. Therefore there is no responibility on landlord's side.
- we recevied a call from Michael last week and stated that you suspected there was some water leakage below the sink. (I believe that's not a serious issue because you can't discover it easily)
- we recevied a call from Michael last week to request us to fix the leakage. We arranged our contractor to arrive last Sat because we don't have keys to access to your flat during weekday. Our contractor fixed the leakage on 14 Mar 09.
- we received a call from Michael regarding the "yellow" water on 16 Mar 09, then we reported to Mgt Office and Water Dept immediately
- Staff of Water Dept cleaned the meter on 17 Mar 09
- Received a call from you again on 18 Mar 09 regarding the "yellow water"
- Staff of Water Dept and our contractor solved the problem on 19 Mar 09"
================================================== ======
I would understand if this happens while I have been staying there for a long time; but definitely not acceptable in the first weeks of me just moving in. Am I entitled to compensation in this case? How should I support my case?

To be honest your lucky you have a landlord who has fixed the problems so quickly, i don't see any way or reason for you to be compensated. sorry
