Hi guys, my baby boy of 17 months is getting an erection which I'm finding hilarious but confusing.
At first I thought his bladder was full and it made no sense to me that he had any sexual feeling or excitement (I've no idea how to term this so excuse me).
But when he is very happy and I'm changing his nappy, he clearly has an erection. Sometimes, he reaches down and presses his own willy, says beep and laughs so it seems he has a lot of physical feelings down there. Its funny, not much we can do but laugh with him but it was shocking when I first saw him do this.
Any like wise parent willing to share?

As far as I know baby erections are quite normal.
As for "feelings" down there, that is normal too. Kids explore their bodies.

It's just really funny to me. After last nights bath, he was sitting on our bed butt naked watching his favorite dvd and he was all hands on his pee pee, pressing it and giggling. My wife and I and trying not to encourage it by laughing in front of him but it is bl**dy hilarious. Will be taking a few video clips for teenager years :)

just for discussion, my son was having a bath last night and my wife washed his neverland. anyway he enjoyed it so much so he looked at mum after washing it/them, then he reached for mum's hands, got them and lead her hands to his private parts again, weird but I guess it will take some getting use to.

Children are "innocent". They have no hangups about pleasuring themselves. Those are brought on by social conditioning, mostly from parents.
So a child that wants to pleasure him/herself does not have a "dirty" mind. He/she simply finds pleasure nice and has no mental barriers in place blocking the behavior.

Haha. Just wait until he discovers all the things he can do with it. My son has discovered he can move it by using his tummy muscles and shows me all the things it can do. His latest favourite if holding it while he wees then letting it go to watch it spurt all over the toilet.
Now my 2year old daughter has discovered her self adn that it is pink in colour. She calls it pink. Often after a bath she volunteers to show it to everyone as both kids take a good look. Haha
