Your TV's HD reception is for TV broadcasts/programs(Jade, Pearl, etc.) and you can get the signal from your estate's TV lines (from your wall). The NOW set-top box receives NOW cable programs and connected thru your telephone/broadband line.

I'm not sure if NOW carries the free TV stations in Hong Kong, but if they do and you want to watch them thru NOW network, you would need NOW's set-top box.

You can watch the terrestrial OTA (over-the-air) digital signals including TVB HD, ATV, etc., using the NOW TV decoder set-top box for NOW HD. If you don't subscribe to their HD channels, you will get the "regular" set-top box, which DOES NOT have the terrestrial OTA digital channels available.

In either case, since your new HDTV has a built-in digital tuner, you can watch the terrestrial OTA digital channels regardless of the version of NOW TV set-top box that you have, or even if you don't subscribe to NOW TV, as long as you have the TV antenna cable plugged directly into your HDTV.

If you are getting the NOW TV HD channels, remember to have the installer run an "external antenna" cable from your NOW TV decoder to your HDTV so that you can also view the digital channels directly using the TV and without having to use the NOW TV decoder. For myself, I find it much more convenient in terms of accessing and changing channels, though quality-wise, it should be the same in either case.

You only need the NOW decoder unless you want the government channels. Do they offer anything in HD?
