I'm writing an article about international airports and wonder if any of you can give me some insight as to what you think of our international airport.
E.g. how convenient you think it is, whether it is user-friendly. Any particular experiences you may have had etc

In my opinion, HK Airport is one of the best airports in the world for the traveler.
- Easy access with the Airport Express.
- Great facilities at HK station.
- In-town check-in is very convenient.
- One can budget more than an hour less for check-in and wait than at a comparable airport in the US.
- At the airport, the train platforms are on the right levels to begin with. Arriving at the airport, you just walk across the bridge to departures.
- Clean, well lit, friendly.
- No seems to serve beer or wine on the ground side of the airport. Odd...
Of course most of these things are the product of being able to build from scratch in the 90s, with lessons learned from other airport operations.

It's the best airport in the world. For all the reasons above. It is actually one of the reasons I moved here, after living in Tokyo, where a 20 hour international flight ended with another 3 hours wasted in immigration and on transportation to the city. Airport Express and in-town check-in are a dream, and the airport itself is convenient (enough shopping, food, smoking areas in enough places but far enough away not to annoy others). And I love having trains end and begin on the correct level too. Hope that helps!

Transport via trains to HK island may be good but public transport to the New Territories sucks, essentially bus only or a cab and for those wanting to go to Tin Shui Wai or Yuen Long there is not even an 'A' bus (only 'E' that goes right around CLK & Tung Chung).
T2 is a pain, too far to walk and takes too long to get to the gate.

I'll agree with you, but this is about the same as any other airport in the world.

I think its won best airport as voted by travellers for seven of the last eight years, and it is outstanding, they paid top dollar to build it, and they got the best airport in the world imho.
