Taxation Query Whilst Abroad

ORIGINAL POST

I am a UK citizen and work for a UK company in London and currently pay UK tax / National Insurance. My employer has asked me if I want to go and work in the Singapore office for a year. They are paying the accommodation / flights and schooling and I will still be paid in Sterling into a UK bank account.

Want I want to know is whether I will still pay UK tax rates or will I be able to claim some of it back due to not being in the country for a year ?

Hi,

We are going through a similar process at the moment. You must tell the tax office when you leave the UK (form P85??) but I think if you are paid in Sterling in the UK you will be liable for UK tax.

Can they not pay you locally .. it would be worth it!
