my daughter is 2 month old and i have been breast feeding her (supplemented w formula). i will like to continue to bf her til she is 6 months old - at least once a day when i go back to work in 2 weeks' time. for the last couple of days i have cut down to just bf once in the morning - and have noticed my breasts are not hard in the morning when i wake up. it will be difficult for me to express milk during the day - open office. if i bf twice a day - can i keep it up for another 4 months or will i dry up before then. please share your experience.

My wife also worked in open offices. She pumped twice a day at the office. First place had a lactation room, which was good. Second time around was in the bathroom. Not ideal but possible. She did it for 9 months for each of our two kids.
Make sure you have a freezer bag and some ice packs to keep the milk cold.
I think you may have to express to keep the flow going, but I'm not entirely certain.

I went back to work at 10 weeks and decided not to pump at work. No place felt appropriate. I cut back to 3 bf and 3 bottles a day. Did that unitl 7 months. I had no issues with having enough. I think the most important point is keeping to a schedule, I also did a bit extra feeds on weekends when I could. Good luck.

Good on you for trying to keep it up. It is not easy when we go back to work so soon in HK. I went back at 12 weeks and expressed twice a day at work. We didn't have a room to express in so I had to use the bathroom too. I didn't keep the milk, just expressed and threw it out. It didn't feel right to express in the bathroom and keep it (just my feeling) so I only did it to keep the supply up. Worked fine and I was feeding my baby all feeds except the last night feed (formula) up until baby was 10 months old. I had enough milk in the morning to feed him and have extra for one of the feeds that I missed while at work. I would also express at the last night feed (when we gave him formula) to have milk for the second day feed I missed while at work.
Doing what I did worked for me and I managed to keep feeding him for another 7 months after I went back.
Good luck,

To help keep your milk supply when you return to work it would be really useful to express at least once during your working day , however if this is not an option then feed your baby prior to going to work and upon returning home as often as she wants . You would be most welcome to come to baby clinic where we can furthur discuss stragies to help you maintain your milk supply till baby is ready to start solids .
With best regards ,

Make sure you are drinking enough fluids now that the weather is getting warmer.

I found around the 2-3 month mark I wouldnt have that full feeling but baby was still eating same and I was expressing same so I called one the helplines and they said it is normal that you get to a point where I am not sure if your tissue changes or your body adapts or something and you just dont feel full like you did initially.
Also remember to take a bit of time to relax as with starting back at work your routine will change so you need to make sure you are not getting stressed, that you take proper nutrition etc.
