Importing a car to HK - Question

Hello,

Was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of what the ins and outs are of importing a car to Hong Kong from the UK?

I've only recently bought it, and I would be importing it to Hong Kong with a view to selling it in a short time frame...

What sort of import duty might that incur? How much is the shipping typically?

Where is the best place to find out how much a car would be worth in Hong Kong to resell?

For any car buffs out there... how much would I expect to get for a:

BMW Z4M, 2006 model, 15,000 miles, 3.2 litre, 343bhp in the highest spec and mint.

Thanks in advance for any advice you might have.

The Transport Department website has all the requirements for importation of a car.

Or speak to the guys at the HKAA - I used them to import a car a few years back

For any imported car the resale value will be considerably less than the same car that was sold by the offical local dealership. Generally used car buyers will stay away from imports if they can.

For a HK car, I'd say under $500K and for an import, I'd say under 400K
