Good day, every body,
Recently I found my new job in Hongkong and will be supposed to go to Hongkong very soon for employment. I am not in Hongkong right now.
About my employment, my company has ordered me to sign my name on the paper stated as under.
"If I resign the company within one year counted from the first working day regardless of the reason, then I bear the cost of the arrangement for my working visa in Hongkong which was paid to the agent."
Is there any legal problem in Hongkong? Is it accepted/permitted that the company asks the employee to sign this?
Do I have to bear the cost in case of "summary dismissal"?
Thanks,
Jackie

Thanks for your replies, every body.
Then,
"If I resign the company or am dismissed by the company within one year counted from the first working day, then I bear the cost of the arrangement for my working visa in Hongkong which was paid to the agent."
Then, is it legally valid??
Thanks,
Jackie

The visa cost is quite cheap.. Dont think you should risk negotiating and possibly not getting the job for such a small amount.

Thanks for your posts. According to the company, the visa fee arranged by the agent is HKD6,500.
I can understand I might need to bear HKD6.500 in case of "resignation". But,
I am still wondering whether the doc is regally valid which shows that I have to bear that HKD6,500 in case of "summary dismissal" within one year counted from the first working date.
I am thinking now it might be better to ask the company to add "This will not apply where I have been constructively dismissed" as posted by GreenValleys.
Thanks,
Jackie
