Whatever you do stay the living hell away from Vincent Motors!!! Vincent and his staff are a bunch of lying crooks. I bought a car from them and in less than 24 hours the motor blew. I still don't have any type of compensation and I'm going to the media and taking them to court. I've sold my car to Vin's before and they are slightly better but be prepared to get squeezed. Good luck. If you got the time I will just advertise privately thru this site to avoid all shady dealers.

I bought many cars from Golden Century Motors, ask for Dicky Fung 91223676

He is mainly into luxury cars (HKD500,000 and above).

He can sell your car on consignment in the Automall & take about 5 to 7% on it

Or you can trade it in, but as Spiggy mentioned, you will get squeezed...

Vin's Motors Is A Fraud 14 yrs ago
Old post but worth a reply for newbies to HK.

I purchased a car from Vin's Motors (North Point - hello Tommy Siu) a couple of years ago. Recently had it serviced at a Toyota centre who confirmed the mileage was wound back ~40,000 km (and also told us the practice is rife in HK).

Vin's had also serviced the car during the intervening period. Surprise surprise - Toyota centre said the car hadn't been well maintained / serviced after all.

Would give Vin's Motors (and very smooth speaking Tommy Siu) a miss.

Clocking is a notorious practice amongst Car Dealers in Hong Kong, including some of the names mentioned above. Why do you think that they never sell you the car with Service History, telling you that it has been regularly serviced but that the last owner "lost all the service records"?

How do I know this? Both a friend and I have sold cars to the trade and been shocked to see that when the car went onto the Dealer's website, the mileage was considerably lower compared to when he / I owned the car.

Another way to spot clocking, look at the total KMs on the clock and divide this by the age of the car. Granted Hong Kong is a small place, but are you honestly telling me that a 10 year old Mercedes (one careful lady owner, blah blah blah) really has 40,000 kms on the clock or 4,000 kms a year or just 333 kms a month?

It surprises me that the transport department does not crack down on odometer clocking, they can easily make it a registration requirement to list mileage at the time of transfer of ownership. If for some reason there is a large variation/lowering of mileage between owners, then the road tax should be suspended on the dodgy vehicle, until a thorough investigation establishes what happened. If found quilty of fraud, make the minimum fine $250,000hkd for a first offence, and increase it to a maximum fine of $1million HKD for any subsequent offence.

It shouldn't be too hard to nip this crap, in the bud.
