I work for a US company that is closing all business in China. I have been given 3 months written notice BUT I have been told I will only be paid at the minimum wage for Shanghai employess.
This means instead of getting my full salary for 3 months I get a total of roughly US$1500! Where do I stand, any chance of getting my full salary in my notice period?
Thanks.

China, the land of the sweat shop, isn't exactly known for good employee protection. The fact that your former employer is offering minimum wage for the period suggests that the company has checked and is offering you the minimum protection under law or contractual obligation. Since your former employer is closing all businesses, it is very unlikely that you will get anything more. Even if you have a solid employment contract clause to back your claims, I doubt it will be worth the effort and anguish to try. (there is probably nobody left in the office to sue.)
I guess this isn't what you would like to hear, but times are tough.
Good luck in your future job search.

According to the Labor Law of PRC, you can get at least $4343 in your situation. But you definitely have to make a quick act(contact with the person in charge or sue them) since the company is closing. So far I think it's very likely for you to get the rest money.
You can contact with me for more advices at lindasun914@yahoo.com.cn(in the email pls tell me the following:1.how long have you worked in the company? 2.what is your full salary? 3. your nationality(are you Chinese)?)
Good luck!
