the good ones will come with a flex vent hose , but you will need to fashion a vent to the outside (simply sticking the hose out the open window defeates the purpose)

Hi - can anyone please add to this post?

Would like to hear from people what they thought about their portable aircons.

If I hang the hose out a small window - they usually have a slim, oblong fitting on the end - do you think it will be ok? Because, of course, the window will be slightly open and letting in hot air from outside?

I have one for my office in Central, for when after 7pm when the whole building has no aircon.

It works fine. I stick the flexi vent out, had a handyman fit in some metal gadget to prevent the hot air from entering. I vent out the water hose too by sticking it out of the window.

Only issue with the window being open is the pesky mossies. If its for a child's room I would advise look into the safety aspect of it.

Thanks for your replies. It's for the helper's room. Seems like I should shop aroudn for some kind of window shield to stop outside air coming in.
