Hi mummies,
I have a poo question.
My 10-mo old girl has always pooed more frequently than the "average" baby.
At newborn (exclusive breastfeeding), she averaged 6-8 poos a day.
Around 7 mths when I supplemented one night feed with Nan-HA (hypo allergenic) formula, rather than getting constipated like many babies do, she maintained 4 poos a day.
Now at 10+ months, she still averages 4 poos a day eventhough 90% of her feed is formula (only one breastfeed at 7am).
Is this normal? She doesn't seem bothered with tummyache so I am thinking it can't be be diarrhoea. She is gaining weight.
Other mummies out there with similar experiences?
Is it the NAN-HA2 formula?
Or, don't laugh, has milk in my breast gone 'stale" since I only breastfeed her once a day??
Thanks in advance for your advice and suggestions.

I think she's probably fine. My 8.5mo probably averages 4-5 times/day -- but he eats prunes most days as he gets quite constipated [judged by consistency, not frequency!]. When he was very wee -- before 1 month, but after the initial black tar poops were over -- he would go 12-15 times/day, each about the size of a China 1RMB coin. He was exclusively breastfed as well, and after a while slowed down to every 5 days or so -- but on the days he went, he'd have 3-5. Now, he loves to eat and loves to poop.
Don't worry about stale breastmilk. It gets reabsorbed if it isn't used.

Agreed with Z. Doesn't sound abnormal if nothing else is wrong. I will paraphrase Dr. Spock and say: "We can discuss average babies as long as we understand that no baby is average." Babies vary. Some poo a lot of times. Some don't. 4 times a day is not a lot anyway.
