Hi
I recently passed my test - altho I have been riding on and off for more than 20 years... ( UK was different I could ride a 125 on L almost indefinitely as I had car licence )
anyways I passed here - I was on L plates at first - so in the 4 or 5 months I have been riding here I havent had my documents checked once - altho I have been stopped at those late night roadblocks - ( 20 times ) but they always wave me thru... is it because I have a P plate so I would have to be crazy to ride with out insurance etc ( which I do of course have )
I know its a bit naughty but I want to take SO on the back to beach etc durign the day... ( weather so lovely at the min! ) mostly this would be saikung local excursions,,
Would any other riders care to comment - are you having your documents checked when you dont have a P PLate?
thanks!

Being stoped or checked at those roadblocks has nothing to do with you being on P's. Usually they are looking for particular types of people for some reason or another. You dont even need to have your insurance on you as long as you have your license and your P's are on.
If you want to risk taking someone on the bike you must remove your P's of course. Providing you ride safe, the bike is all in good shape, helments comply with the law and such there would be no reason to be stopped... that said there is always the risk of being cought so its really just a matter if you want to take the risk.
My opinion, in most cases you would be ok.

thanks for your replies..
thats sort of what I figured - aside from murphies will be fine.. - i just wanted to evaluate the risk .. and I can see why it is a requirement - but after so much experience it is a bit of a drag..
i dont really want to break the law - I would be happy if they had an advance riders course which would allow you to circumnavigate this requirement..
I am not after a superbike - I just want to fully enjoy the freedom of transport in a slighly more environmentally friendly way.. I could splash out for a car - but really dont want to pay for parking each way and anyway - i hate traffic jams!
I have noticed that they tend to target sunny days more up here in sai kung tho!

A mates mate was just a few days from riding a year on P plates, decided to take a pillion and guess what, yep, he was pulled over. You can't beat Murphy for timing.
