Go to Pedder Building, 4th floor ... there are a few shops, but one in particular (can't remember the name - not Sparkles as they are expensive) has many dresses for reasonable prices. I bought a really nice ball gown recently for about $800.

It depends on your budget. If you're willing to pay around HK$4K then I suggest you to have a look at Mayeelok (they're in Central. I forgot their address but it can be found on their web). I once got an off the rack cocktail dress and asked them to tailor make another one. I love the material they used and their unique design (they just did one dress per design). The tailor is very attentiveness.

I Just saw lovely evening dresses (black) in Esprit, Central, 1,000 HKD - very classy and smart but simple - look on second floor.
