i got a freshwater pearls and silver bracelet for XMas. i've been wearing it pretty regularly and just noticed scratches on one pearl. does anybody know how to get rid of the scratches?

Hi there,
I toured a Pearl Farm where I used to live and I recall them saying that you can't really remove scratches. Each pearl is formed layer by layer, so to remove the scratch you would have to remove the whole layer (done by a jeweller, presumably). The problem with that is it will decrease the size of the pearl, and the scratch may be deeper than one layer.
If it is not that noticeable, then I would be inclined to leave it, and just take care of it to avoid further scratching.

Thank you. It's freshwater pearls bracelet and the scratches are not that deep so I guess I'm gonna have to get it go and be more careful.
Oh well.. :-(
