Hi everyone,
Basically, I am an 18-year-old student, and I am coming to China from 5th June to 4th July. I fly into and leave from Beijing. I plan to stay with some friends in Beijing for four or five days, but after this I would like to travel around the country.
I am no stranger to China, I visited the country last year and the year before that. In addition, I lived in Beijing for a while when I was younger hence I have a very good level of spoken Chinese.
However, I would like to explore some more offbeat parts of the country, preferably for as cheaply as possible until I return to London to start my summer job. I would be happy camping, hosteling, hotelling...anything really...
Any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Tom

Hi,cabbagetom
I 'd like to give u some inf.maybe useful for you, but in reading my post, you'd better have a map in your hand, then you can understand my route well.
.in Beijing, you have friends, they will take you to play, so I begin after Beijing.
1. take a train from Beijing--Xi'an . there you may stay in a youth hostel, stay in a bed it's very cheap: about 50 yuan/night . then visit : Terra-cotta Warriors, Wild Goose Pagoda, City Wall, and you may climb the famous Mt. Huashan
2. about 7 days in Xi'an ,you take a train from Xi'an--Sichuan ,Chengdu
also you find a cheap hostel , and then have a look around Chengdu :you may have a Panda card with your passport ,then you can visit many sites for free, this is because after the earthquake in 2008 ,Sichuan got so many help from people in and abroad, so in order to thank these people, many sites(most in Chengdu) will be open to people outside Sichuan for free for one year. and you may see pandas . Dujiangyan Dam, Mt. Qingcheng, Mt. Emei to see the sun rise, and famous Giant Buddha in Leshan.
3. in Sichuan you may stay for about 8 days in Chengdu, then you may go along Sichuan to Tibet, where it's not just for non-Chinese ,but also for Chinese, Tibet is a mysterious place . in Tibet you will see a different life-style you 've never seen in other places, so peaseful , you can see the sky burial(bodies eaten by eagles), snow mountains and holy lakes.
if you still want more inf. you may find the web : www.windhorsetour.com , there are much about China southwest ,or you may ask me by email: sonia@windhorsetour.com
