my irish boyfriend is having emotional problem about the "connection" to hong kong, anyone has similar issue and any advice to help?

i am so worried, pleaes help

i don't know if he's homesick or not.......he just said it's kinda like "lost in translation" (the movie), he said he can't connect with HK, he's not happy, he wants to move back to ireland, i am soooo worried.....he's been here for 9 years already, but he can't speak a word of cantonese...

Being here for 9 years is a good run, he has probably achieved what he originally set out to achieve. It may be the best thing for him to move back home now...

If he wants to move he wants to move. After 9 years I would think it has either worked or not. Then again, he may move to Ireland and then decide after 3 months that it was a silly thing to do and come back. It's been known to happen.

9 years and not even a bit of the local language = someone who did not try very hard to acclimate himself. If he isn't happy here but you are, then one of you will have to compromise, or not.
