Extension of Tourist Visa

Today, I have been to immigration to find out what I need to get my wife (filipina) a longer stay than two weeks in Hong Kong. I know your thinking I should apply for dependant visa, but I am pretty sure that it would be denied as I am on quite a low salary. My question is, can i change her status once she arrives here to Hong kong, from Tourist to Visitor, so she can stay longer? She is coming soon so I do not have time to apply for visit/transit visa before she gets here. What other ways can i get her a longer stay, so i dont have to keep extending/going to Macao/Shenzhen... any help greatly appreciated.

I have a working visa, I have been here for 2 years, and i am a British passport holder.

Thanks

make sure she is armed with support documents plus when she arrives, make sure you are on stand by if in case immigration calls you

see this post - http://hongkong.asiaxpat.com/forums/hong-kong-domestic-help/threads/126548/came-for-job-interview-put-on-next-plane-back-help!!!!/

although your gf certainly is in a different situation than the subject on the link, it is a fact that immigration do scrutinize philippine passport holders entering hk more than any other nationality / races whether they are coming here as a tourist, a domestic helper, a shopper, on a work visa etc.

and let's not get into the subject on why immigration does it. the fact is they do, and your gf should be prepared.
