I would like to know how much my wife need to earn each month to get a resident visa for me and our baby?

We are living in France since one year and we plan to move back to Hong Kong? ( she is born in Hong Kong)

if she holds a permanent residency in hong kong then you can get a dependent visa pretty much immediately. no 'income' hurdle there in my view.

if your question is more about how much money someone needs to earn, then maybe you can share your current earnings in EUR and lifestyle in France and i could give you an equivalent lifestyle for hong kong.

yes she holds a permanent residency in hong kong, we know from the immigration she needs to work to sponsor our visa and we want to know around how much she need to earn to be sure we can get the visa

i was granted a dependent visa via my wifes sponsorship also, (she's a HK perm resident) and I believe the number is approx. 15k-20k/mth...www.immd.gov.hk is a bit vague, stating that the sponsor must be able to support you well above a subsistance level, with adequate housing...:

but my wife is slightly above that figure and we had no problems...

If we have free accommodation can it be less than 15k/mth or can it help to get the visa

According to my experiance very bottom line is HKD$3000/person, so 9K for 3 persons and better show bank balance at least 50K.

Ultimately it depends on how much you are paying the rent .

Hope this will help you

Nicolas, it looks like immigration is dealing in "numbers" (for the salary), but the principle actually is the same anywhere you would like to migrate to. Are you going to be a burden to the society? Are you going to receive cash benefits from the government? If yes, they will not grant you residency. That is why your wife must show she can support you and the baby. On the other hand if you're a professional and has the capability to earn, then it will help too in securing that sought visa.

So if you don't have money but can borrow and "show" to the immigration department(ID) that you have "reserve" cash, it will help too. You just don't know though if the ID may know of these tricks and be a liability instead. The key is to show to the HK government that you're not going to be a burden to society.

HI nicolashk

As GV pointed out that "visas are granted at the discretion of Immigration only". Provided, your wife has PR status and wife found the job with pay MINIMUM 10K/mnth / with bank balance 50k, im sure they consider.

i'm not sure that they will consider anything YOU can bring to the table as relevant, (they didn't ask ME for any details of MY job/savings when we applied for my dep. visa)...they are solely concerned with proof of your relationship and your sponsor's financial situation, since she would be supporting you in the worst case scenario that you don't work...of course if you can top up your wife's bank account with your own money to make it appear that she is more than able to support you, that should help
