Any advice and tips for a first time dad whose wife had a c-section. Baby was born on Monday : D and I think my wife will be in for around 4 more days. I'm currently manically sorting the house out, I'm guessing she wont be able to go up stairs for a while. I'll have to move the bed/set up a bed downstairs. Any experiences shared greatly appreciated
Cheers

Hi Wagne ! Congratulations!
Don't need to move the bed or set up the bed downstairs. Your wife can walk, and walk and up and down stairs... don't worry.
I found about 3-4 days after the surgery, the pain is bearable. It's NOT that bad. But it differs with each person, however, one can definitely walk after the surgery. The hospital makes the mommy get off the bed after 24 hours (from the surgery)... at least they make you try.
The first day after the surgery was most painful, then it gets better each day. By 1 week, I was up and about without any pain killers or any help.
The thing to remember is NOT to lift anything heavy, and try not to bend up and down in the first 6 weeks, that's what my ob told me. Even with the baby, try not to have her need to BEND down to get the baby....

No need to move bed too. I had c and after discharged from hospital to come home, the car pack is 2 floors down and no lift to go up so i walked 2 floors up and was feeling really ok. after 10 days i was able to even iron and do some light house work. if she feels pains, take the tablets given by the hospital.

I had a C section. the pain was really really abd the first couple of days, but then rapidly got better.
Do ask her how she feels, as someone mentioned above, each woman recovers at a different pace.
Agree with the weight lifting, and general help to make things easier for your wife.
If you have a helper, then jsut organise with her to do the grocery shopping, cooking and cleaning done so she doesnt have to exert herself.
Congratualtions, good luck with the sleepless nights and exhausting and exhilerating rollercoaster that is parenthood.
