Agreed Beerboy.
I have been living in Hong Kong for almsot 15 years & always had to accepted this practice of extra 3% in most small businesses...
I now report them to to my credit card companies & I really hope they prosecute them in some ways....

Merchants are supposed to accept credit cards with no surcharges, but if you report them to your card provider they won't do anything anyway. I have had this experience with Amex and HSBC Visa when paying for airtickets at a travel agent. When I rang them to complain and asked them what action they would take they said they would tell the merchant not to charge (but that's all they were willing to do), needless to say next time I used a card, bingo.........
