We are thinking of flying to Lijiang from Shenzhen airport as there is a direct flight (none from HK). I know some people get a driver our to the airport - how do we do it? I know there is ferry etc, but would like to go down the easiest and fastest route (i.e. taxi I guess). Any tips much appreciated.

The most easiest way, but also the most costly, is to hire cross-border transport services. (Those luxurious 7 seaters bearing HK & Chinese licence plates)
They usually cost between 1k to 1.5k depending on who you are calling, and usually no extra costs for pick-up location even if you live on the peak.

the second most easiest is to take the bus in wan chai ferry pier (pay by octopus) to lok ma chau and then a taxi after the border
cost: 45 to the border and about 120 from border to airport.
time: about 1h10m same like the private bus above
