car seat requirements Australia

we are off to oz for holidays and I just went online to check if we needed to take a booster for our 6 yr old and it states that unless carseats have an approved in Australia sticker on them you can get fined for using them. As my carseats are purchased USA and Singapore I doubt they will have this sticker - anyone else had this issue? what to do?

We are moving back to Australia soon and we have a maxi cosi and I dont' think it is Australian approved, however it's a great, safe carseat, so I will be using that one.

I think with a booster seat, there wouldn't be alot of difference. If you are really concerned about it, you can always hire a booster. There are many places in Australia that have hire services. Babyco is one and if you just do a google search you will come up with many others.

It's a definite must though as they will slap you with a fine for not using them. Australia is very strict about car safety. Good Luck

I've lived in Ozland for over a decade, and trust me, unless you are driving dangerously, coppers there are fairly reasonable.

I assume you are renting cars there. If my assumption is right, I think AVIS or those big brand names do have optional child seat to go with the hires. Check'em out.

There are specific baby goods hire places, don't use the ones from the car company we did once and they were ripped, old and filthy! Buy the time u rent one though depending on how long you are going for u may as well just buy one! if u are going to sydney I can give u some places to look.
