Hi, anyone else out of a job do to the H1N1 school closure? Just curious to see if it was only happening at my school. I know that working hourly has it's drawbacks but ouch!

Do you think an employer should give half salary? or zilch?

Love to hear your thoughts

i'm wondering if the EAs at ESF are getting paid? I think they DEFINATELY should as we have had to pay full school fees! I heard before of them not getting paid on T8 which is ridiculous, we don't get a refund of school fees on that day so why should they not be paid (I don't work there but have had friends who did).

Mixeymum - you are scaremongering. EA's are paid for the two weeks. Many of them have children at home so have chosen to take unpaid leave. You may of heard of them not getting paid in a T8 but if they are on a contract you are incorrect, if they are part time they get paid for what they work as does any other part-time worker.

Actually, I'm a part time EA in an International preschool, get paid hourly, and only get paid if I work. The school has said only full time staff need go in, none of the part timers, so no pay.

Yes, part-time is the key I guess.
