The email software itself won't have an effect on the spam filter. That is, you're not more or less likely to be caught in the filter whatever client you use.

oh...so what is the best software to use for sending out lots o femail - rather than sending one by one or bccing people - ideally be able ot mail merge with dear "NAME" would be great..any ideas?

Microsoft Word + (Excel) + Outlook makes for a pretty fair mail merge tool. Word for the letter, Excel or Outlook for the addresses. Outlook for sending.

If you are simply looking for an E-mail client which is free to download. You can try out the "Thunderbird" email client. You can download it from the following link: http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/

This link explains how to create mail lists and how to keep each email confidential (by using the bcc option) using mozilla thunderbird email client. I just don't know what is the limit in the number of recipients in one mail list ...

if you want to run your own mail server you would need to work with your provider and likely you would want a fixed IP and set up a server. IceWarp is a great e-mail server product that is reasonably priced.

but like the others said, depends on how professional you want to look and what you want to spend.

If you want your own email server it is probably even easier to get a hosting company to host your domain and run it all from there. dreamhost.com comes to mind.

I use dreamhost, and if you want to use them let me know I can give you a code to use that gives you a discount.

If you do use Dreamhost, you will be limited to 100 emails an hour unless you use their Announcement or Discussion lists.

I personally use the discussion lists for my football team, which allows me to send out 1 email which in turn goes out to everybody. They can in turn respond to that email address and everybody on the list can see the response - it helps when you want there to be discussion (or banter in this case).

The Announcement lists work the same way in that 1 email goes to everybody on the list, but if they respond it will only go to you.

Its fairly easy to set up on dreamhost.

Dear qwerty123,

If you are running your own hosting server, you can try installing a web based newsletter manager called phplist.

http://www.phplist.com/

As it is free to use, it may probably take some time to just give it a try.

Cheers.

To send personalized newsletters to your clients, you can buy Groupmail Software (Email Marketing Software) from www.ayalanet.com. Sells for about HK$1115.

I would suggest you to look for email-m.com - a web based email marketing service provider.

Webmail is a pain, you can use http://www.travelsmtp.com for newsletters too (also for personal use). I believe around 600 HKD per year for weekly newsletters, 190 HKD per year for personal use, you put smtp.travelsmtp.com in your e-mail software and can then send e-mails no matter where you are, on every network.
