I have a particular diet that I am on where calories are not too important as long as it's not grease filled crap, but I need to be cautious of my protein and carbohydrate grams.
Does anyone know where I can get meals made according to how I need them put together? I've scoured the city but can't find anywhere. This is one of the frustrations of HK! If I go on the net, plenty of places show up that do exactly what I want and they're all in the STATES!
And no, I don't have a helper and no that isn't an option.
I used to make my own meals but it's really really time consuming and I hate cooking.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

errr thanks for your great advice..
It's amazing how in such a city with unlimited inovative ideas as Hong Kong is, no one has capitalized on this. Obviously, in the states, they have and they must be doing well or they would stop doing it.
In HK, people are busy and they don't have time to have their meals properly which leads to grabbing whatever whenever and it's usually not very healthy. Yes, many have helpers but they cook how they want and have no idea about proportionalizing different foods according to a person's nutritional needs.
Finding the time to get to the gym or exercise is difficult enough for people, but if they knew their nutrition was being taken care of, they would make the extra effort. Too bad I hate cooking or I would just start up the buisness myself.

I beg to differ. Many helpers, including our own, can cook exactly how you want. Our helper is an amazing cook. She makes great tasting food that fits in perfectly with my wife's dietary requests. And beyond telling her the requirements once, it's all her. We never know what we are going to eat until it is served. It's all about finding a helper with the requisite skills.

If there were demand, it would be done. But most people who have enough income to use such a service have helpers who cook for them. Also, the food culture, what with the family out to yam chaa, long lunches, and so forth, is completely different from the US.
As for "unlimited innovative ideas", I don't know. It is true in some respects but not in others. I'll definitely agree that being able to order pretty much any obscure specialty item online is one of the joys of being a hobbyist in the US. The US isn't perfect either though. Try finding decent bread if you are anywhere but a few places, for example. Very hard if you are used to European standards.
I must also point out the irony of someone saying that people in HK don't eat very healthy and using the US as a yardstick. ;) Yes I know you didn't exactly say that, but that was where my mind went.

You could try the company Gingers, they do a home/party catering service, but it will cost you.

Sarcastic and non-constructive answers are not welcome - if you cant help then please refrain from posting (I've deleted a few comments).
Both Olivers and 360 have an excellent selection of quality cooked foods.

ed there was nothing sarcastic about my last post. i only posted statistics regarding American Health and Eating Habits.
The poster was implying that HK does not have healthy diets when in fact back in their countries, the american health is dominated by fast food and unhealthy eating habits too.
So why allow the poster to target HK without first reflecting on their own country's situation back home?

They do, and so do CitySuper and Great. But this is hardly the "nutritionally controlled" foods that I think the OP is looking for.

Hi all,
Thanks for all of the replies!! It looks like there isn't a company that I'm seeking here and I will just have to suck it up and continue to do it myself or hire a helper. Some of you took my reference to the states the wrong way..I was referring to the fact that if you went on yahoo right now and put in something like "healthy ready made meals" you would find companies that you pay for 5 or 7 day meal plans, they make all of your meals depending on your calorie needs, etc and even deliver them right to your door. And the price isn't too bad to boot! The only problem is that they're in the states and I've also come across one from the UK before I believe.
I'm all too aware of the American diet so it had nothing to do with that.
I know all the stores around HK and do shop at them often. I spent over 50K last year at City's super alone!!
axptguy38, you are very lucky and I envy you for having a helper like that! I just don't need one fulltime and getting one as dedicated as yours is, just on a part-time basis isn't going to be an easy task. I attempted finding one a while back but it just didn't get very far. I wound up just giving up and going back to doing it myself.
Well, if anyone knows someone who can do a job like what axptguy38 mentioned, please give me their contact so I can get in touch.
Thanxx

Yes..you're right on target in many ways!
I want to go to someone and say, for example: I need a meal with 60g carbs and 40g protein and let them do their magic.
Those two things can be easily counted just as calories and I have done it myself for a while now. Going back to my complaints before, it takes time and I am not worth a damn as a cook so someone who knows what they're doing could make a meal within my guidlines that tastes good and is well rounded to give me all the different nutrients I need.
It might sound like I am asking for too many details but it works and I've done it myself with no experience beginning. So, someone who is good at and enjoys cooking could easily incorporate this.
I'm already quite good at knowing the different weight of foods equaling how many grams protein/carbs. It isn't rocket science, just someone to do it!!
The whole domestic helper thing is probably the reason why this service hasn't caught on here....but there are plenty of people like me who would enjoy this service. I've got the money to spend but it just isn't practical to have a helper live at my home full time and finding a descent one part time...back to my earlier frustrations.
Oh well, with the time I've spent on this forum, I could've cooked a nice meal (or two) for myself.
Please let me know if you know of such a service here!

Catch 22. Most people who are wealthy enough to be potential customers also have helpers.

Have you tried eatright cafe? www.eatright.com.hk

tried it...asked the guy there and never heard back from him. Can you believe that!!
Talking with some other people in SoHo who are in the restaurant business, that's the type of guy he is..won't respond to people. I've eaten there many times and enjoy the food. He advertises that he does what I'm seeking but when I ask, nothing! Quite amazing, huh
With competition like that, it's yet another reason for someone to get into this business and be competent at it.

Well he is originally a fitness professional so maybe he's not that great at running a business. However, he is friendly and I know of someone else who has joined the food program and been very happy, so maybe you need to pursue it a little. Yes it's not the way it should be done, but given the lack of any other options, you might need to take what you can get.

I've asked him on a few different occasions many months apart. Each occasion, same thing.
"Yes it's not the way it should be done, but given the lack of any other options, you might need to take what you can get."
Again, what I said before. I don't know how your friend was able to join the program or if your friend just let him do what he wanted. I know what I want and I asked him to do it...he said it was easy to do but never even got back to me about the price. It's like asking any business for a product or service of theirs and just never hearing back from them at all. Totally unprofessional!!!

Posting an update...finally!!! I found someone who I have been using for about a week now and it's going fantastic. Charbel K. Assaf from Beyrouth Cafe on 37 Lyndhurst Terrace is a trainer with Bootcamp and I accidentally met him and got to talking about this.
He's been able to do exactly what I've been needing and the food is great! Every meal is made according to what I tell him I need and he also can set people's diets for them should they not know what they need.
With the amount of money I pay for each meal, it would be the same, if not more, if I went to the supermarket, bought all of the ingredients and did it myself. The only difference is that I save on the time and hassle!
This has given me the motivation I need to get back into the gym and get back into the shape I was before.
If anyone finds themselves in a position similar to what I was in, I would suggest going and talking with Charbel.
On another subject, if any of you would like to know how to get in good shape and may be tired of wasting money on supplements as well as time in the gym getting nowhere, I suggest checking out www.musclenow.com
I've used this program for the past almost two years and it works!! Francesco teaches how to build a nice body with the right diet and workout alone without harmful supplements. The endless testimonials and photos speak for themselves and I'm one of them (the only guy in HK)
I mention this because I know how much of a headache it can be trying to find the best workout plans out there. Hope someone finds it helpful!

Generally, if you require a special diet, the only way to ensure you get exactly what you want is to cook it yourself or to teach someone who can cook for you on a regular basis and understands nutrition well.
Can I ask - "I have a particular diet that I am on where calories are not too important as long as it's not grease filled crap, but I need to be cautious of my protein and carbohydrate grams." - what sort of diet is this and who told you you need to foloow it?
Protein is the most important part of your diet for your body to function. Carbs are essential for energy. Normally people should be mindful of fats, but the other two?
Would be curious to hear why you decided this is the diet for you.

I'm more about body-building...back to the website I mentioned before. However, I've lost serious fat and gotten cut up on this diet.
It's already worked for countless people including myself, so that's all the proof I need.
