Best route to Miami

Going fm hk to Miami with the kids soon - whats the best, cost effective way to get there? Also any suggestions on what places shouldnt be missed - esp for kids. Appreciate any input. thanks.

I don't think the following route is necessarily the best but last year, I flew HK to LA ( about 12 hours -Cathay) then LA to Miami (5 hours - American Airlines) There was only a 2 hour gap between the two flights.


It was a bad mistake as the flight from HK was late by an hour! This then left me one hour to queue up, clear customs, collect my luggage and then get across to the domestic side of LA Airport. It was awful, after half an hour of queuing and not moving, I had to grab an airline official to push through. Even so, I was still late for the Miami connection but fortunately that flight was delayed too!


If you do this route, you may want to leave yourself a 3 hour plus gap between the two (if there is a later flight) or stop overnight in LA.


Can't really say what's good to do in Miami. I only stayed there a couple of days, mostly sleeping, before flying on to the Caribbean islands.

HK to Newark, NJ on Continental Airlines then Newark to Miami. I always fly that route when I go back to the States since my family is in Ft.Lauderdale. When you get to Miami take the kids to Miami Seaquarium, Parrot Jungle and Wannado City.
