Hi Sara Jane,
Sorry to hear you've put on 4 kgs so quickly. As you've already had a blood test, I think t he best thing to do would be to see a gynaecologist for advice. I think that women can start having menopause from the age of 35, so whilst 42 does seem to be a bit early, it's not really that unusual.

Hi Sara Jane. I have passed through menapause, not early like you, was about 50 but like you I put on a lot of weight in a short period of time.
I would suggest you see someone asap as over 9 months I put on over 20kg despite no change in diet and gym work with a trainer 5 times weekly. Left it too long before seeing someone about the weight gain and now having problems getting it off.
Also have trouble with fluid retention which adds to the weight gain.
See a hormone specialist or gynaecologist as soon as you can for advice.
Good luck with it.

Hi,thanks for replies
Went back to gyny he gave me norethisterone5mg for 21 days I also bought phyto-care(phyto-oestrogen)which is helpful for menopause and menopace(22 vitamins)
I am also working with weights at the gym for combating loss of bone density.
Does any know of a hormone specialist? Putting on weight is no fun:( especially when working out so hard.

Hi Sarah Jane,
I've just found your thread. I"m 42 and started night sweats & hot flashes back in March. Period still the same. I haven't been to the doctor but gonna start on multivitamins etc. Did you get phyto-care from Watsons? Iv'e gained weight too. Aaarrggghhh!!

Tried that range but made difference to the weight gain,I did more research and got vitex from 360,it's from the chaste berry extract because I get cysts on my ovaries.I feel like getting all my "bits"taken out if it stopped the weight gain. It's all around the middle area, stress and lack of sleep don't help.I'm trying a product called remefrine think I spelt it right.I'm out at the mo will check later and also a book for menopause(which I've only leafed through)
There is also another product which may help you with the night sweats it was on the shelf in 360 in Elements. It's the weight gain thing:(:( especially with Summer. Will check the book when I get home.
