prescription eyeglasses in HK

There are places in TST where you can get some real bargains in frames and lenses. Up until recently I went to a shop where the cost of frames was about half what I would pay on HK Island (original frames, not copy frames). I never had a problem with any frame I bought from them. But after going to them for many years, they have several times screwed up my lenses where they either easily scratched or another time the coating bubbled. In both instances they were unwilling to replace them so I have finally decided not to go back. However, another HK long-term-resident friend of mine gave me a card to a shop she goes to: New Fei Optical Supply Ltd. http://www.newfei.com.hk/index.htm She said she has been very satisfied with both the frames and lenses she has gotten there. I will try them out myself very soon.


Later posting: 20 August. I went to the above optical shop and got my new lenses. I am extremely satisfied. Although they are not as cheap as Shenzhen, the cost is significant cheaper than Hong Kong Island optical shops.

Do yourself a favor and go over to Schenzen -


The quality is fantastic and have had no problem what so ever and recommend many people who have also done the same - go to Peter's Glasses on 2nd floor near the escalator.


Best thing is the price is 1/4 of what you pay in HK and are ready in 2 hrs
