Highlighting Dark Western Hair

ORIGINAL POST

I know there is lots of threads on hair but has anyone recently had a good experience in getting dark to darkest brown hair highlighted and not too expensive (it seems that this is not possible in hong kong).

I had highlights a few years ago and was not particularly happy with results but getting older and want to try again rather than getting dark dyes to cover few greys.

I don't want to spend a lot at the moment.

Toni & Guy are really good on Wyndham Street, I think my highlights are about $1,000. Otherwise maybe look for an expat mobile stylist who can come to the apartment and may be cheaper?

hi Pinkie, I do my highlights by a filipina girl in central, she does to many expats girls(who dont want to spend a lot ) and her costumers are the crews of Cathay pacific, she have a tiny salon in Li yuen street, but you can only get her by appointment, if you want her contact let me know.

The difficulty in highlighting darker hair, is breaking past the red pigmentation inherent in hair, therefore avoiding an orangey tone, if you want to achieve a blonde tone, you will need to bleach the hair first, then tone to the desired colour. Otherwise. Apply ash tones a couple of shades lighter than your natural colour : this will give you a softer natural highlighted look. As mentioned many times before, go for a consultation first to be sure that you are confident the stylist understands your needs and is competent in their work.

Feel free to pop into our salon if you need any advice.
