Hair colour in a box

Anyone had any experiences with dying your own hair? Which are the best products? Pros and cons? I'm looking to cover my highlights (and a few greys!) and go back to dark brown-black hair. Never done it before and it seems like a cheap alternative of getting it done at a salon. Heard that ammonia free products fade really fast - true?

whatever you do .. PLEASE make sure you are not allergic to it.

I used to colour my hair as a teenager but in my 20's developed an awful reaction. In severe cases it can kill. I have never dyed my hair since ..not even at a hair dressers or even done my eyelashes. (I wish I could) I think you can use some henna or veg dyes but am oot sure

I don't want yo be a drama queen, but please .. just be careful.

If anyone know of some natural dyes, please let me know .. the grey is coming .. x
