I'd love a spiral perm on my medium length fine straight hair.
BUT - everytime I ask in the hairdressers they discourage me - citing the humidity in Hong Kong, telling me it will go frizzy, will be too hard to manage, will not turn out as I expect (i.e. nice bouncy curls) etc.. etc...
If this is really the case, fine, but can I just ask some of the experts who frequent this site one more time?!
Also, (assuming it is not guaranteed to turn into a frizzy mess), anyone recommended in HK? I know perms are a bit out of fashion of late so may be hard to find someone who does them frequently.
thanks

Dear HKHELP
without seeing your hair, I generally would agree that if your hair is fine in texture, the humidity in Hong Kong is not conducive to perming.
Perms though are back in fashion, we are certainly doing more now than previous years.
If you hair is of the right texture[medium to thick] there should not be any obvious reason why you cannot have a successful perm, as long as you are under professional guidance and ability.
The other option is to consider what is generally called a Digital Perm. Basically this entails hooking you up with lots of wires to a beeping and flashing machine..(:
This method does work very well in humidity and employs taking thicker sections of hair, which in turn helps reduce frizz.
Please visit any good salon for advise and good luck.
