please give me advise on what I need to do.

2 years ago, me and my friend shared a flat since we were working in the same company. After a year she didn't renew her contract and left Hong Kong for good and currently she's been all over the asia because her new company always have to send her overseas. technically i don't have any contact to her aside from email.

When she left Hong Kong, I didn't know that she had UNPAID Credit Cards and Loans. Months after she left I have received notes and lots of letters from the debt collectors, every time a letter would come i'd always follow the instruction to return the mail or call the sender to inform that my former flatmate has left already Hong Kong, and that i don't know where she is now.

Lately I've been receiving unknown or private numbered calls, looking for my former flatmate and sometimes they would mistaken me as my former flatmate. Most of the time, they are rude!

So, I would like some advise to what i would do to these callers!

You need to get a new phone number that will take care of the calls. If you can move to a different flat, that will take care of the visits.

thank you for your advise punter, but getting a new phone number would be my last option, i have a lot of clients who knows my current number, plus the fact that I am not the one who owes money to them, why would I suffer these consequences. And I was wondering, how did get my number?!? Was my personal details invaded?

Just give them her contact information. Likely they can't collect anyway, if she has moved out of China.

By ripping these people off she dumped the collection people on you.

Why should you change anything because of your 'friend'.

It depends really on what you value more. If you hate the rude calls, then you'll find a solution to solve it. Cheers.

Your "friend" obviously didn't care enough about you to warn you about her running away & leaving behind debt so I suggest you act in kind and inform these debt collectors about her whereabouts or at the least the name of the company she works for so they can chase for money thats owed!!

Thanks for all the advise that you gave, I already informed the police about it and gave all the information regarding the collectors. I also gave the email add of my "friend" to the collectors. So far now, I haven't receive any telephone calls from these collectors anymore. Cheers
