I am looking for a device can carry and put that in my car.

The problem with a lot of HongKong, and many densely populated cities (or rather built-up) is the fact a receiver near the ground cannot 'see' the satellites.
I did survey work in several Asian cities and we only managed to get satisfactory signals by using an antenna mounted on top of a 'pole' attached to our vehicle in conjunction with a professional GPS receiver. (We actually used pairs of receivers but for purposes of accuracy).
My personal high-end GPS, with an external antenna, still hit large areas of HKG with insufficient signals.
TomTom has the best car mounted units at this time; Magellan are also good.

I love my Garmin, but in HK it can be very hard to get a signal as Highway-9 says. Tall buildings and lots of hills. It's almost easier to stop and use a map.

How much Garmin and Tom Tom cost, the low-end model?

There are a few local devices you can find in Wanchi computer city, my friend bought a HTC cruise with Papago GPS app with it, not bad in such a small phone, also come with car stand.

If you are not using all the time, get the phone with GPS apps on it."
RockChu2: The cell phones typically use a module that costs under USD$3 at trade in 1000 lot quantities.
If you think such a unit is more sensitive than receivers built for the sole purpose of receiving GPS signals you are sadly mistaken. Maybe on top of Victoria Peak or out at ShenZhen race track ...
