I have noticed new eyeglass shops popping up in LuoHu Commercial Mall (Shenzhen) lately. They are selling great looking frames and offering to put in prescription lenses (tri-focal progressive lenses for 500RMB). It is considerably cheaper than what it would cost in Hong Kong. I would love to give especially these lenses a try (Chinese made). Has anyone any experience with either the frames or lenses from these shops?

Thank you Marco. Your response is helpful.
Although I was looking for lenses, I did take a look at the frames. Not bad frames, but in the end of the day, I'm more interested in the lenses since I have frames from Hong Kong.
The reason I want to try out the lenses in Shenzhen is because after many years and having many sets of lenses put into various frames in Hong Kong, I have not always been satisfied with the quality of lenses I've gotten in Hong Kong, and at great cost I might add. 500RMB for the type of lenses I need sounds very tempting.

Hi Cucaracha, I've bought great frames at really good prices in Lowu and had multifocal prescription lens fitted by the same shop and have to say that I won't do it again.
Reading is ok with the lens but when looking at a screen whether it is a TV or a computer the screen becomes concave - really annoying. And, depending on the strength of the prescription the lens themselves may be quite thick.
I would say that I will buy frames there again but not lens unless the lens is quite a weak one and not into the multi / bi-focal type.
