Is anyone going to Stanley sometime soon? If so, please help!!
I'm back in the US and do not have the vendor's info. I can tell you where he's located, right near the Laque Good shop, on the left-hand side, on a corner. He sells snacks and drinks, as well as ladies handbags, handmade. Some of the bags are fabric, denim on the inside, with adjustable straps.
If it helps, he is located far down Main Street, where there is a fork in the road. He is across the street from a store that sells Tibet/pakistan sweaters, skirts, etc.
Any help will be appreciated.

There is "Stanley Main Street" and "Stanley Main Road", or are you using the term Main Street as a more general term? I go to Stanley often enough and don't mind helping you if I can, but it would help to know which part of the Stanley Market area you are referring to. Is this store in the actual (old) market area or is it on a road used by cars and buses? Is it in the new area of Stanley Market (close to the water) or in the older more rustic part of the market? And what information do you want -- name, address, phone number, email address?

Hello Cucaracha,
I was definitely going through the pedestrians-only part of the market.
I'll tell the path i took...walked along the side with Watson's, delifrance and haagen-daz. I made a left at the handbag Station (74A1 on map i found: http://stanleymarket.org/walkingmap.htm)
I walked straight for a while and remember passing a shop with lots of lacquer products (Good Laque 42D Main). The gentleman also is there with an older woman, possibly his wife.
On the map, he could be 40A or 16B..that is the confusing part for me. His location is one where you cannot walk any further without going left or right. You'll know when you reach this point; his shop is directly at an intersection soon thereafter, like a Y-shaped intersection. On my right was a touristy shop with postcards, etc, and in front of me is a colorful shop with ladies bags, sweaters, skirts (as i mentioned before handmade--very distinct).
He has a freezer with ice cream (i believe, or snacks/drinks), and the bags hang from the outside of the shop. The bags are fabric, some with denim on the inside, adjustable straps, etc. I would like his name, telephone, email, website--any contact info is appreciated!
Thank you so much. I left HK last week and am still pining for it. :-)

I just got back from Stanley Market and very easily found the shop you were referring to. I even ended up buying a denim lined bags (HK$69.) -- very nice. And the couple are indeed husband and wife. Although they were both there, the husband was having lunch so I spoke with the wife. I asked her if she had a business card, which she gave me. The below is exactly as it appears on the card:
Doris Ma (the wife's name)
Jacqueline Co.
Side of 40A, Stanley Main St.
Stanley, Hong Kong
Tel: (852) 2813-2050
Fax (853) 2813-2050
Email: tonyja130@yahoo.com.hk
I asked her if she checked her email each day and she said she does. She speaks very good English so communicating with her should not be a problem.
I'm sure you wish you could have been in Stanley yourself. It was a beautiful day and as always was fun to wander around Stanley Market.

Cucaracha,
I have been in suspense for days!....
Thank you, thank you, thank :-)
My heart is so happy to know that you did this for me. I truly appreciate it, and your trip to Stanley, along with the great weather, makes me pine for HK all over again. It is too hard to be away from that place. Aren't the bags insane?? I'm kicking myself for not buying at least 10 of them. (*My next trip, I shall be more prepared, in many ways).
I thoroughly appreciate your efforts to connect me with this wonderful couple, thousands of miles away. You are sweet and kind--just like so many of the people I met while there...
HK, I'll see you soon! Cucaracha, my plan is to return next summer--maybe sooner. Take good care of Stanley for me :-)
