Due to unsucccessful negotiation between a bank and my father over a Credit Card Settlement 10 years ago. My father had no choice but to move in fear of debt collectors. It has been 10 years now and my father is now 79 years old and only doing part-time job. His debt collectors found him, I cannot help him. Some friends who work in a law firm that debts cannot be chased after a length of 10 years.. Is this true?

in uk, there was a statute of limitations which meant that, after six years, one could not sue for a debt - UNLESS the debtor acknowledged the debt. So, if there is a similar law in HK, it is essential that your father makes no acknowledgment that he owes the money. Then again, maybe the creditor has a judgment against your father - which is a different matter entirely. Best see a solicitor....
