Hi
Looking for a place to take my family (children 2 & 4 yrs old) for a 2 mth holiday. This will be the kids first trip to Asia so want somewhere nice and clean with friendly people and things for little ones to do - pools, safe beaches, good food, some English (basic communication etc).
We are from Aust and have been traveling for 2 yrs in US and Canada so the kids are up for change and like discovering new things and visiting new places.
We travel on a budget so ideally we will be looking to get a longer term rental (with pool) for under $1,000 US per month (like $6-800 if possible) for 2 bedroom apartment.
Would like good local restaurants and lots of things for children to do if possible.
We need to fly back to Aust before heading to Asia - so if possible somewhere with reasonable flight connections from Australia.
Happy to receive a few suggestions as we hope to spend 2-3 months in Asia each year now.

thanks for the replies. appreciated. Have been reading all the forums and blogs and found a few people taking young children to Thailand and Bali.
Thinking of taking an 2 bed apartment with a pool for 1 month in Phuket - any suggestions recommendations? Would like to be near a safe beach for the kids to play - which side / part of the island is best. Read news articles re some drowning from rips - can anyone suggest the safest beaches - less aggressive surf etc? Little kids like shallows to paddle etc. Ideas appreciated.
Second month thinking of either Chang Mai or going to someplace like Cambodia or Vietnam - for a month. Any ideas of nice places? The kids are only 2 and 4 so we are not big on cities - somewhere were there is nice safe open space for them to walk, play with a ball or swim. Will want an apartment for a reasonable price with a pool for them. Ideas / suggestions?
