Does anyone know where to buy "Gateway" brand computers? I've been searching around but can't find any places selling this computer rand in Hong Kong. Thansk fro helping me out

HK doesn't have distributor for Gateway, so no luck for finding this brand in here.

Gateway closed down international (that is outside US) operations somewhere around 2001-2002, after the dot com bust. They were bought by Acer in 2007.
BTW why in particular do you want a Gateway? They were a great brand back in the 90s but they are very much an also-ran nowadays.

Actually the quality of components differs greatly between manufacturers and product lines. The cheaper "consumer" lines tend to have higher failure rates because the components are lower in quality.
Some manufacturers, like Dell, are notorious for not using the same components for the length of a product line, giving rise to all sorts of support issues. On the other hand, certain Thinkpad notebook models (and certainly others) guarantee the use of the same components in order to make life easier for corporations who buy large numbers.
