If you're asking on a forum like this, it's best you take it to the manufacturer to get fixed. Whether it can be fixed by yourself depends on why the key is not working. If you pull the key off it's sprung hinge, you may be able to see if there's a visible reason - key or keyboard. just make sure you know how to put the key back.

First step: is there any dirt under the key? Try blowing next to it and around it. Also flip the laptop over and see if something falls out.

As drm888 says, you may just be able to pull it off and check what is wrong. However note that many laptops have quite complex key mechanisms that don't lend themselves to self-repair. I consider myself a computer expert but I HATE having to fix keys on laptops.

If it is under warranty, call the manufacturer.

If it is not under warranty, take it to Wan Chai Computer Centre. My favorite computer fixers are Match Power. Shop 202-204, 2/F.

Many thanks you guys, at your suggestion I found my laptop has spring hinges on the keys and was able to lift it up and found a crystal of sugar lodged underneath.

Will try out Match Power in future so many thanks for that.

Glad it worked out. Can't tell you how many times I've found that sort of stuff in a customer's keyboard. You're lucky it was dry residue and not sticky dried Coca cola.

You may want to buy a can of compressed air (AKA "Air Cleaner") at a computer store. Use it to clean your keyboard every few weeks. You'll be amazed what comes out. Also give the vents a good blow to dislodge dust on the fans/blowers. Remember to keep the can UPRIGHT at all times or fluid may come out, potentially damaging the machine.
