Hello everybody,
Me, my wife and our son (7 months) are living in France since one year.
My wife want to move back to Hong Kong because she doesn't like the life style in France.
But we are worry about getting 2 dependent visa for me and our son.
We would like to know how much she need to earn minimum
to get 2 dependent visa?
Thanks for your reply.
Nico

where is your wife from?
if she is a permanent resident from hk, you can get a dependent visa for both yourself and your son right away. has nothing to do with earnings.

of course that's not true...nicholas, it's hard to say a number for sure, since the IMMD website suggests 'the sponsor (your wife) must be able to support the dependents well above the subsistance level...' without getting more specific.
I would hazard a guess (based on my dependent visa sponsored by my wife) that the number might be minimum approx. 15K/month salary (we also have an infant daughter)
that's just my guess tho

does not matter where she is from, only her visa status, in most cases if she has the right to work here and is not a domestic helper, all immediate family members will have the right of abode as well.

Right of abode and work. Dependent visas confer the right to work.

after funbobby's post i was already thinking i had something completely wrong wired and actually went to do a look up
http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/id998.htm
funbobby is right that she needs to be able to support the dependant's living at a standard well above the subsistence level and provide him/her with suitable accommodation in the HKSAR.
in reality she needs to have a place to stay and probably something like 2-5k income. subsistence levels in hk (after accomodation) are very very low. in fact i used to live on 5k a month when i did an internship here and it was good fun including lkf and all.
further, if she is from hk, she might have family here! that would provide the accomodation and possibly also cover the subsistence for her husband and kid as i am sure the hk govt will consider the family support as well.
in any case, i have never heard of anyone who didnt get the dependant visas. i suggest you simply try to get it or even better call the immigration dept in hk to find out from them directly
