Halogen lighting?

ORIGINAL POST

I want to buy halogen lighting (ceiling lights, floor lamps) for my entire flat and not sure where to go. IKEA doesn't seem to have much of a range anymore. I know there's a whole street of lighting shops in Causeway Bay, but not sure about prices. I'm not looking for anything too "designer" (expensive). Any ideas?

Try the lighting shops in Wanchai. Hennesy road.

Why halogens in the home? They're normally used for outdoors. Expensive, highly energy inefficient, have a latency period after you switch off and the bulbs and tubes are very sensitive.

I want to switch to halogen lighting because I can't bear these ghastly fluorescent tubes. I was not aware of any energy efficiency issue. I do know that one halogen bulb lights a room much more brightly (and beautifully) than several incandescent (or fluorescent tube) lights.

the newer compact flourescents do a much better job of replicating the warmth of incandescent lighting using FAR less energy...for me, halogen is much too harsh ( i don't live in an operating theatre after all lol) and a little atmosphere with warmer lones is more comfortable...my personal choice

as to your original questions, best to just go down to the stores in the area you mentioned and find out for yourself re: prices
